AppWizzy FAQ

Applies to: all AppWizzy customers and projects

This page answers common questions about AppWizzy hosting, templates, billing, AI access, data, and security.

AppWizzy and templates

What is AppWizzy?

AppWizzy is a hosting platform for preconfigured VMs. It helps you start software environments, AI workspaces, websites, and applications without manual server preparation.

Is AppWizzy only an app generator?

No. App Generation is one AppWizzy workflow. Other templates provide classic hosting, runtimes, websites, Codex workspaces, and autonomous agents.

What is an AppWizzy template?

A template is a preconfigured VM image and starting environment. It defines the installed software, initial content, access methods, and supported workflows.

How do I choose a template?

Start with the result that you need. Then compare the template software, access methods, machine sizes, and fees.

Read Choose a Starting Point and AppWizzy Templates Overview.

Can I install other software?

Yes, when the selected template and SSH permissions allow it. All hosted VMs support SSH, but access privileges can differ.

Your software must support the VM operating system and selected resources. You remain responsible for its configuration, licenses, updates, and security.

Can I start with existing source code?

Yes. The External Code template can start from a connected GitHub repository or ZIP archive. Current GitHub import supports React frontend and Node.js backend repositories.

Read External Code for supported creation methods and limits.

VM resources and access

What does an AppWizzy VM include?

The selected machine size provides CPU and memory. The selected template provides the operating environment and specifies the active disk allocation.

Do all VMs support SSH?

Yes. All AppWizzy hosted VMs support SSH.

Do all VMs support Remote Desktop?

No. Remote Desktop is a template capability. AppWizzy Codex Desktop provides a protected Remote Desktop interface.

Do all projects have a browser interface?

No. Browser URLs, administrator panels, code editors, and protected workspaces depend on the selected template.

The project page shows the available access methods. Read Project Access and Credentials.

Can several people access one project?

Supported projects can provide collaborator access. The available permissions and shared credentials depend on the template and project interface.

Read Collaborators and Workspace Access before you grant access.

Billing and credits

What is an AppWizzy credit?

One AppWizzy credit equals one US dollar. Subscriptions and top-ups add credits to the same balance.

What can credits pay for?

Credits can pay for VM hosting, managed AI, and one-time template license fees.

How does VM billing work?

AppWizzy charges VM hosting in indivisible 24-hour periods. A period starts when the VM starts or resumes.

AppWizzy charges each started period in full. It does not use a calendar time zone or prorate a period.

Does pause stop VM charges?

A pause prevents the next hosting period from starting. It does not refund unused time in the current paid period.

What does a free template mean?

A free template has no one-time template license fee. VM hosting and managed AI can still create charges.

What happens after failed provisioning?

AppWizzy refunds a failed provisioning charge. Contact support if the failed charge remains in your billing activity.

Read Pricing, Plans, and Credits and Template Fees and Total Cost.

AI access

Does AI work without my provider account?

Yes, when the template supports managed AI. AppWizzy routes requests through its multi-provider proxy and charges use to your AppWizzy credit balance.

Can I use my ChatGPT account?

Yes, when the template supports personal ChatGPT login. Your OpenAI account controls its plan, limits, and provider charges.

Can I use my own API key?

Yes, when the template supports BYOK. Your provider account controls model use, limits, and provider charges.

AppWizzy stores BYOK credentials securely and encrypts them.

Who receives my AI request?

The provider for the selected model receives the request. OpenAI receives requests for GPT-family models.

Other model providers receive requests for their models. Local inference stays in AppWizzy or Flatlogic infrastructure when AppWizzy provides it.

Read AI Access Modes and Billing for the complete comparison.

VM lifecycle and data

Does my data survive a pause or restart?

Yes. Data on the active disk survives pause, resume, restart, and CPU or memory resize.

A restart clears memory and stops processes. Confirm that required services start correctly after a restart.

Does AppWizzy rebuild my VM during restart or resize?

No. AppWizzy does not provide a standard VM rebuild operation. Restart and resize preserve the active disk.

A template can provide a separate destructive action. Read its warning before you use that action.

Does AppWizzy create backups?

Yes. AppWizzy creates at least one backup of each hosted VM system each day.

AppWizzy can restore the system from a backup point. A restoration can exclude later changes and overwrite newer data.

Is Git a complete VM backup?

No. Git stores committed source code. It does not automatically store databases, uploads, secrets, packages, browser profiles, or uncommitted files.

What happens when I delete a project?

Deletion removes the VM and its active disk. Read Project Deletion and Retention before deletion.

Also read Data Persistence and Backups for restoration and export guidance.

Security and maintenance

Who maintains the hosting infrastructure?

AppWizzy operates and patches the hosting infrastructure.

Who maintains software inside my VM?

You maintain the operating system, installed applications, dependencies, users, permissions, secrets, and application security inside your VM.

Can AppWizzy staff access my VM or prompts?

AppWizzy staff access VM content or prompts only after you request assistance. Support explains the required access when the work needs it.

Do not send passwords, private keys, provider keys, access tokens, or browser sessions in an ordinary support request.

Read Security and Shared Responsibility.

Support

What should I check before I contact support?

Identify the project, template, current status, failed interface, exact error, failure time, and last successful action.

Read Troubleshooting AppWizzy Projects for a structured diagnosis.

How do I contact support?

Use the AppWizzy contact page. Include the project name and relevant error details without secrets.
