Project Deletion and Retention

Applies to: all AppWizzy hosted VM projects

Pause and restart operations preserve the active disk. Deletion removes the VM and its active disk.

Deletion also stops future VM hosting charges.

What deletion removes

Deletion removes the active disk. The active disk can contain:

  • source code stored only on the VM.
  • databases.
  • uploads and user files.
  • environment files and secrets.
  • uncommitted changes.
  • installed software and configuration.
  • terminal and browser state.

Export all required data before you delete the VM.

What may exist separately

AppWizzy creates at least one backup of each hosted VM system each day. AppWizzy can restore the system under the applicable retention policy.

A backup contains the VM state from its backup point. It can exclude changes that occurred after the backup point.

Some App Generation projects can also have committed code in GitHub or the AppWizzy internal Git service. A Git repository contains only committed code.

It does not contain the complete database, uploads, secrets, uncommitted files, or complete VM state.

Automatic cleanup when credits are insufficient

If your AppWizzy credit balance cannot fund the next hosting period, AppWizzy can pause the VM. AppWizzy can also issue a deletion notice.

Unless a different deadline appears in the account or service notice:

  • AppWizzy attempts permanent deletion at least seven calendar days after the deletion notice.
  • AppWizzy normally adds a one-day operational grace window.
  • The cleanup schedule can cause deletion after the nominal deadline.
  • AppWizzy ordinarily cancels scheduled cleanup when you add credits and successfully resume the VM before deletion.

The account or deletion notice shows the applicable deadline. Export important data before that deadline.

Before deletion

  1. Export source code, databases, uploads, and other required files.
  2. Confirm your access to each external Git repository or storage account.
  3. Record the configuration required to recreate the service without secret values.
  4. Check whether you must detach custom domains or external integrations.
  5. Confirm which template license and account records remain available after deletion.
  6. Review the displayed deletion and retention notice.

Restoration request

Contact AppWizzy support immediately after an unintended VM deletion. Provide the project name, account email, approximate deletion time, and required data.

Do not create another project with the same name before support reviews the request. Do not overwrite related external data before this review.
