Code Editor
Applies to: App Generation projects that use the SaaS Engine template
The SaaS Engine template uses a live Code Editor. It does not use the former static Code Preview interface.
The editor reads files from the hosted development workspace. It also shows saved versions and the AI Engineer.
Open the Code Editor
- Open your generated application project.
- Resume the VM when it is paused.
- Select Code Editor in the left navigation.
- Wait for the file structure to load.
- Select a file to view its content.
The file tree can show up to 5,000 workspace entries. Large projects can require direct SSH or a local source copy.
Review files
The left panel shows folders, files, and saved versions. The center panel shows the selected file.
The editor can display common image files. It rejects unsupported binary files from the text editor.
Text files larger than 2 MB cannot be edited through this interface.
Edit a file
- Select the required text file.
- Select Edit.
- Make one focused change.
- Select Save.
- Enter a clear version message.
- Test the application result.
Saving a file creates a Git commit for that file. It also sends the commit to the internal project repository.
If GitHub is connected, AppWizzy also attempts to send the commit to the connected repository.
Save all workspace changes
AI Engineer work can change multiple files before a version exists. Use the main Save button after you test those changes.
The main save creates one version from the current source changes. Use a message that identifies the completed result.
Use the AI Engineer beside the editor
The right panel provides the project AI Engineer. Ask it to inspect or change files when direct editing is not suitable.
The AI Engineer and Code Editor use the same development workspace. Refresh the file or application preview after an external change.
Understand the limits
The Code Editor does not show database records, environment secrets, or the complete VM disk state.
A source version does not create a VM snapshot. Read Version Control and Rollback before recovery work.
Use SSH Access when a task requires shell tools or files outside the browser editor.
