AppWizzy Hosting Overview

Applies to: all AppWizzy hosted VM projects

An AppWizzy project combines a VM with a selected template. The VM provides CPU, memory, persistent disk storage, and network access.

The template provides the preinstalled environment, software, and project interface.

One hosting layer, different templates

The common hosting layer provides:

  • VM provisioning.
  • eligible machine size selection.
  • active disk storage.
  • start, pause, resume, restart, resize, and deletion controls where applicable.
  • SSH access.
  • project network access and URLs.
  • at least one backup of each hosted VM system each day.
  • restoration from a backup.
  • VM billing through the AppWizzy credit balance.

Each template adds specific features. One template can provide Remote Desktop and a browser-based Codex workspace.

Another template can provide WordPress, a PHP runtime, or a generated SaaS application. Confirm each feature in the selected template guide or project interface.

Persistent storage

Files and data on the active disk survive these operations:

  • pause and resume.
  • VM restart.
  • CPU or memory resize.

A pause does not create a new VM or reset the active disk. A restart can stop processes and clear data from memory.

A restart does not erase data from the active disk.

Deletion removes the VM and its active disk. Read Data Persistence and Backups before you delete a project.

Access methods

AppWizzy supports SSH for all hosted VMs. Other access methods depend on the template:

  • a public or protected browser URL.
  • a template dashboard.
  • Remote Desktop.
  • a browser-based coding environment.
  • mobile access.
  • application-specific administrator credentials.

The project and template pages show the available access methods for your VM.

VM lifecycle and billing

AppWizzy charges VM hosting in rolling 24-hour hosting periods. A hosting period starts when you start or resume the VM.

The charge does not depend on a time zone. AppWizzy does not provide a partial hosting period.

AppWizzy charges each started hosting period in full.

A pause preserves the active disk. AppWizzy does not start the next hosting period while the VM remains paused.

AppWizzy does not prorate the current hosting period. See VM Lifecycle and Billing.

Backups

AppWizzy creates at least one backup of each hosted VM system each day. AppWizzy can restore the system from a backup.

The restored system contains the data from the selected backup point. It can exclude changes that occurred after that backup point.

A backup does not replace an independent export of important data and source code. See Data Persistence and Backups.

Infrastructure and VM responsibility

AppWizzy operates and patches the hosting infrastructure. AppWizzy does not patch the operating system or software inside your VM.

You maintain:

  • operating-system packages.
  • installed applications and dependencies.
  • application users and permissions.
  • secrets, provider keys, and personal account sessions.
  • the security and correctness of your application and data.
