Remote Desktop Access

Remote Desktop opens a graphical Linux desktop from a web browser. It is a template feature, not a feature of every AppWizzy VM.

Use the template catalog and guide to confirm Remote Desktop support before project creation.

What Remote Desktop provides

Remote Desktop gives you graphical access to applications installed in the VM desktop environment.

The available applications depend on the selected template. For example, AppWizzy Codex Desktop includes Ubuntu Desktop, Chrome, terminal tools, and Codex interfaces.

Remote Desktop, browser workspaces, and SSH can use the same active disk. Save important work to persistent project files.

Open Remote Desktop

  1. Open the AppWizzy project.
  2. Confirm that the VM status is ready.
  3. Select Open Remote Desktop.
  4. Enter the VNC password when the interface requests it.

You can also find the Remote Desktop URL and VNC password in project settings.

The access link becomes available after provisioning finishes. A paused VM cannot provide the desktop.

Resume a paused desktop

  1. Open the project overview.
  2. Select Resume VM.
  3. Wait until the VM is ready.
  4. Open Remote Desktop again.

Resume starts a new 24-hour hosting period. Read VM Lifecycle and Billing before you resume the VM.

Protect Remote Desktop access

A person who can open the Remote Desktop URL and has its password can reach the graphical workspace.

That workspace can contain source code, files, terminal history, browser profiles, active sessions, and authentication artifacts.

Use these controls:

  • Store the VNC password in a password manager.
  • Share the password only with trusted project users.
  • Sign out of personal websites after use.
  • Remove saved browser credentials before a project transfer.
  • Rotate workspace passwords after an access change.

Do not paste the password into a public issue, source repository, or ordinary support message.

Rotate AppWizzy Codex Desktop passwords

AppWizzy Codex Desktop has separate passwords for Remote Desktop and AppWizzy Codex.

The project owner or an administrator can select Rotate both workspace passwords in project settings.

This action replaces both passwords. It also closes existing AppWizzy Codex and Remote Desktop sessions.

Give the new passwords only to current authorized users.

Other Remote Desktop templates can use different credential controls. Follow the selected template guide and project settings.

Persistence and active sessions

The active disk survives pause, resume, restart, and CPU or memory resize. Save application work before any VM lifecycle operation.

Unsaved application state can exist only in memory. A pause, restart, or resize can remove that state.

A browser tab is not a backup. AppWizzy creates at least one system backup each day and can restore from a backup point.

Resolve common access problems

If the desktop does not open, complete these checks:

  1. Confirm that the template provides Remote Desktop.
  2. Confirm that provisioning has finished.
  3. Confirm that the VM is active and ready.
  4. Open the current URL from project settings.
  5. Enter the current VNC password.
  6. Reload the browser page once.

If access still fails, record the project status and error text. Contact AppWizzy support without including the password.
